Cyanotype Printing

A couple of months ago I bought a Cynotype chemical kit. I am trialling it today for the first time.

The Cyanotype process was developed in 1842 by Sir John Herschel.

In short two solutions are mixed together that create a light sensitive liquid that is painted on a surface. Then images or objects can be placed on top of the surface and exposed either to sunlight or a UV light source. The images are then transposed to the surface and fixed.

I have printed some images onto transparent film to test the process. Its pouring with rain today, so I don’t have sunshine. I have a UV instrument that I have canabalised to see if its works for me. Watch for something in my gallery.
